John F. Coyne is president and chief executive officer of Western Digital. He is a member of WD’s board of directors, has been president since May 2006 and became CEO in January 2007. Coyne has dedicated the majority of his career to WD, serving the company in many capacities around the globe.

Coyne originally joined WD in 1983 to start the company’s PCBA operations in his native Ireland. Based in Malaysia beginning in 1997, he planned and implemented WD’s consolidation of all worldwide hard drive manufacturing into Malaysia in January 2000, the expansion of the company’s drive operations into Thailand in January 2002 and manufacturing operations related to the acquisition and integration of the Read-Rite magnetic head business in Thailand in August 2003.

During his career, Coyne has progressed through positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, manufacturing, materials, marketing and general management, primarily in the electronics industry.

A native of Dublin, Ireland, Coyne received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University College Dublin in 1971.

In his role, Bukaty oversees WD’s corporate law, intellectual property, risk management, stock plans administration and corporate services departments. Reporting to president and chief executive officer, John Coyne, his insight, experience and management skills fill a critical role for the company, with his team integral to many aspects of the company’s operation.

Bukaty began with WD as vice president, corporate law in 1999, bringing a wealth of corporate law experience, including an extensive background with large public companies and emerging growth companies. During his tenure to date, the complexity of the company’s legal needs increased with the implementation of corporate governance changes in response to Sarbanes-Oxley, the expansion of international operations, the growth of strategic business alternatives, the launch, management and disposition of five subsidiary companies and the formation of a holding company structure. WD made significant progress during this period, restructuring its operations, turning financial losses into profits, acquiring the assets of Read Rite Corporation, re-emerging as a premium hard drive supplier to the PC market and creating new markets for hard drives such as personal video recorders and gaming consoles.

Previously, beginning in 1995, Bukaty served Fluor Corporation, Aliso Viejo, Calif., as assistant general counsel for that company’s corporate group. Before that, he was a partner with the law firm Riordan and McKinzie (now part of Bingham, McCutchen, LLP), Los Angeles, Calif., where he honed his skills in securities, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital funds and leveraged buyout funds.

Raymond M. Bukaty received in 1983 combined juris doctor and master’s of business administration degrees from the University of Southern California and earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in 1979.

Bukaty currently serves on the board of directors for Mercy House, a charity supporting the homeless in Southern California, and Orange County ARC, a charity providing assistance to the developmentally disabled.

Timothy M. Leyden rejoined Western Digital in May 2007 as executive vice president, finance, and became chief financial officer on September 1st 2007, reporting to John Coyne, president and chief executive officer. He previously served in various capacities with WD from 1983 through 2000.

Prior to his return to WD, Leyden was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Sage Software Inc., a subsidiary of Sage Group PLC, a U.K. public company. Before that, he had worked as a management consultant to technology based companies during 2001 with Pittiglio, Rabin, Todd & McGrath.

In his earlier career at WD, Leyden served in various worldwide finance, manufacturing, and information technology capacities in the company's storage controller, semiconductor and hard drive businesses, both in his native Ireland and in the U.S. During that time, he worked closely with John Coyne, who became CEO of WD in January 2007. They worked together on the acquisition and integration teams when WD entered the hard drive business in 1988.

Leyden received his ACMA (Associate Chartered Management Accountant) certification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Chapter St., London. He earned a master’s degree of business administration from University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Hossein Moghadam is a long-time industry veteran whose storage background spans more than three decades. Moghadam is responsible for Western Digital's worldwide engineering and research and development program. He joined the company in 2000 as vice president of engineering and San Jose site manager.

Before joining WD, Moghadam was with Terastor Corp., serving as senior vice president of engineering. Previously, he spent nine years with Seagate where his most recent position was CTO and senior vice president of research and development. Moghadam began working for Seagate in 1989 as a result of a series of acquisitions, including Rigidyne Corp., a storage hardware technology company, which he founded in 1986. His 17 years previous to Rigidyne Corp. were spent in various management roles with Pertec Peripherals, Control Data, Honeywell and General Electric.

Moghadam earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
